Life at Augusta
The class is just the beginning.
DeRose Method Augusta is more than a place to come for class.
The school has its own rhythm throughout the week: practice, conversations, chai, lunches, dinners, workshops, cultural activities, study, and informal time together.
Many people first come for the practice. Over time, they discover that what happens around it matters too.

What happens around the practice matters too
Personal development does not happen only through techniques. It also happens in the way we communicate, listen, collaborate, and spend time with other people. That is why the culture of the school matters to us.
We want DeRose Method Augusta to feel warm, thoughtful, and welcoming — a place where people can take part without pressure and become involved at their own pace.
We are not trying to create a social club. We are building a school where practice, culture, and good relationships naturally support one another.
What happens beyond class
None of these moments needs to be elaborate. Often, it is simply having a little more time together that makes the difference.

Time around the table
Food has a natural place in the life of the school.
Sitting around a table gives people time to slow down, talk, and get to know one another outside the practice room.
Our lunches and dinners are simple occasions built around good food, conversation, and care for the details.
Sometimes staying for a meal after class changes the experience completely. You stop being someone who only comes to practise and begin to know the people around you.
Explore the Method beyond regular class
Throughout the year, we organise workshops and activities that explore different parts of the DeRose Method and the culture around it.
Some activities are practical. Others are more reflective, cultural, or simply social. They give students a chance to explore subjects in more depth and see how the ideas behind the Method can be brought into everyday life.
Community grows through shared experience
Community at DeRose Method Augusta is not something you need to sign up for.
It grows from small, repeated moments: coming back to the same place, practising together, staying for chai, joining a workshop, sharing lunch, or having a good conversation after class.
Over time, faces become familiar and relationships develop naturally. That sense of belonging is built slowly, through presence and shared experience.

CultureSmall things shape the atmosphere
We pay attention to these details because they shape the experience people have every day.
Care should be something you can notice, not just something we talk about.
Values lived in practice
Honesty
Being clear, sincere, and consistent in what we say and do.
Respect
Treating people with attention, discretion, good manners, and consideration.
Care
Paying attention to the small things that help people feel comfortable, welcomed, and well looked after.
These values only matter if they show up in everyday life: in how we teach, communicate, receive students, organise activities, and spend time together.
at your own rhythm
Begin with a class and discover the rest in your own time
Some students mainly come for regular practice. Others stay for lunch, join workshops, or become more involved in the life of the school over time.
Some people connect quickly. Others prefer to take things slowly. Both are fine.
Participation should come from genuine interest, not pressure.
The best way to understand DeRose Method Augusta is to spend some time here.
Come for an experimental class, meet the school, stay for a conversation, and see how the environment feels to you.
We are in Baixa, Lisbon, a few steps from Rua Augusta.
